Description of Job Facilities Specialist Salary Range: $50,000-55,000 General Information: Under the guidance of the Facilities Operations Manager, The Facilities Specialist will serve History Colorado’s sites in the Denver Metro area in operating, maintaining, and repairing building systems ensuring their functionality. This position will be responsible for general cleaning, maintenance and repair support and management. Daily report location will be the History Colorado Center with the potential to be deployed to other Denver facilities as needed. This position will work collaboratively with all appropriate internal divisions (Community Museum Operations, Collections, Exhibits and Interpretation, Education, Event Rentals etc.) on programming and operational needs. The Facilities Specialist will work as a team member and is expected to take direct responsibility for the organization, coordination, and successful operations of the areas assigned. Job Duties: + Perform regular cleaning and maintenance as needed of all museum areas, including restrooms, floors, surfaces, exhibits, offices, and common areas + Remove trash and recycling from all bins, replacing liners as needed + Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as handrails, tables, chairs, exhibit components, and doors + Spot-clean spills, stains, and debris throughout the museum to maintain a presentable space + Maintain restroom cleanliness, restocking consumables (soap, toilet paper, paper towels) and addressing sanitation concerns immediately + Maintain common areas- breakroom restocking, conference rooms, storage closets + Perform regular deep cleaning as needed + Assist with setup and breakdowns for museum events, programs, and special requests + Provide basic AV support for event rooms and conferences + Maintain and organize janitorial supplies, reporting inventory needs + Support building exterior upkeep like minor landscaping, window cleaning, power washing, and snow removal + Machine-scrub and buffing of terrazzo floors + Respond promptly to urgent cleaning needs or maintenance requests from museum staff + Perform general maintenance duties including but not limited to: + Repairs on toilet facilities including soap dispensers + Repairs on heating and cooling systems + Replacement of lamps and cleaning of light fixtures + Removing/replacing ceiling tile as needed. + Minor repairs on furniture and floors. + Maintaining and/or replacing door hardware. + Painting and patching of walls. + Assist in the replacement of filters in the HVAC equipment + Perform routine preventative or predictive maintenance and routine repairs as requested + On a rotating basis, act as the on-call for History Colorado Center and Denver sites. During those periods of time must be available to respond to emergencies by cell phone and/or on-site visit, within a reasonable and appropriate period of time + Regular documentation and checklists via History Colorado’s work order system + Responsible for increasing the aesthetic of buildings, reducing safety and utilities costs, and encouraging a better overall experience for patrons. + Other facilities maintenance items as needed in order to maintain History Colorado’s properties The Ideal Candidate has: + An ability to think outside the box, the ability to communicate effectively, and ability to solve problems proactively and take direction + Willingness to jump in and help the Facilities Department or any of the Community Museums with duties as needed as a part of a team + Strong management and organizational skills + Experience using technical equipment such as computers, printers. + Proficiency in email communication, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, MS office tools especially Word and Excel Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights + High school diploma required + Dependable transportation + Valid Colorado driver’s license. + Successful candidate must pass a criminal history background and motor vehicle check prior to hire + Ability to lift over 30 pounds + Ability to work outside for hours at a time + Adaptability to flexible work schedule and work location as needed Supplemental Information History Colorado is committed to anti-racism practices across its institution and outlined in these grounding virtues.
