Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. The Facilities SME for Radar/Radio is responsible for conducting technical assessments of facility infrastructure and specialized mission systems. This role involves evaluating equipment condition, facility readiness, and maintenance needs. The SME will recommend necessary upgrades, replacements, and training, and use their survey findings to support design reviews and long-term sustainment planning. This position is contingent upon the award of the contract Key Responsibilities: + Conduct in-depth technical assessments of facility infrastructure and mission-critical systems, including radar, radio communications equipment, and related support systems, to ensure operational readiness and compliance with project requirements. + Evaluate equipment performance, facility conditions, and maintenance needs, identifying deficiencies and recommend upgrades, replacements, or preventive maintenance strategies to enhance system reliability and longevity. + Provide subject matter expertise during design reviews, offering technical input on system specifications, facility modifications, and integration of radar and radio infrastructure into broader surveillance and communications networks. + Monitor implementation of approved facility and equipment upgrades, providing ongoing technical oversight and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and project specifications. Qualifications to be successful in the role:  + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; advanced certifications or specialized training. + 10+ years of progressive experience in facility operations, maintenance, or technical assessments, with a strong focus on radar or radio systems within maritime or defense-related environments. + Expert-level knowledge of maritime surveillance infrastructure and associated support systems, including radar site configuration, calibration, maintenance, and radio communications equipment integration. + Proficiency in conducting detailed technical evaluations, troubleshooting system deficiencies, and developing corrective action plans for radar and radio facilities. + Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex technical data, diagnosing issues, and preparing accurate, actionable recommendations. + Experience preparing and presenting technical reports, facility assessments, and maintenance documentation to support project decision-making and long-term sustainment planning.
