Facilities Project Manager

The Facilities Project Manager position will be located in Burnaby, BC supporting a large multi-year facilities management contract with BC Hydro. The role will be based at the client’s Edmonds office location and reports directly to the Operations Manager.

The Facilities Project Manager plays a critical leadership role in the successful delivery of projects for BC Hydro client facilities. This position is accountable for managing all phases of project execution, from collaboratively developing the scope of work with the client to ensuring safe and efficient implementation in alignment with established schedules, specifications, and budgets.

The role demands a strong focus on project performance, including cost control, schedule adherence, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication. Emphasis is placed on maintaining rigorous safety standards, conducting regular site inspections, tracking progress, and overseeing financial documentation such as work orders, invoices, and payables. The Facilities Project Manager will cultivate strong, professional relationships with clients, trades, and suppliers to support long-term project and organizational success.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Provide leadership for projects regarding cost, schedule, quality and safetyEstablish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders including Black & McDonald team members, clients, trades, and subcontractorsMeet with our clients regularly to provide updates and maintain open communication with them Create innovative custom solutions adapted to the unique needs of our clientsPlan work to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other subcontractors or departmentsVisit job sites regularly to verify work is being done according to specifications and ensuring client satisfactionEnsure all work is planned and executed safely in accordance with our safety program Review accuracy of work order content prior to invoicingProvide expert input on the operational impacts of projects, including maintenance, energy, and site operations.Review technical specifications and project initiation documents to ensure alignment with FM service requirements.Participate in project planning, kickoff, and design review meetings.Identify and communicate recurring costs and operational impacts, including health, safety, and environmental considerations.Develop mobilization plans and budgets for project workCoordinate and lead all project handover activitiesParticipate in commissioning and equipment testing to validate operational readiness where applicableCollaborate with internal and external project teams to review design specificationsEnsure designs support maintainability, sustainability, and lifecycle efficiency when applicableProvide recommendations to minimize operational disruptions and enhance long-term performanceReceive and manage as-built drawings and operational documents in an approved electronic repositoryEnsure documentation is accessible and aligned with service delivery needs.Participate in closeout documentation and lessons learned sessions

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A degree or diploma in construction/facilities management or relevant field is preferredExtensive experience in building maintenance/construction or related experience may substitute for educational requirements. PMP designation would be an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

5-10 years of building maintenance/construction experience At least 5 years of supervisory experience within the building maintenance/construction industry is requiredFormal training in supervisory responsibilities is an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications Working knowledge of Project management software such as Procore, MS Project, or similarCMMS System knowledge an assetExcellent leadership and interpersonal skillsExcellent planning and scheduling skillsExcellent communicator with strong written and verbal skillsStrong writing abilities and presentation skills are essentialStrong organizational and time management abilitiesTravel to sites across the province is essentialValid Class 5 BC Drivers' License and clean abstract

The expected salary range for this role is between $110,000-120,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
