About the role:
The On-site Facilities Manager/Handyperson plays a crucial role in delivering professional, responsive, and effective facilities management services to a government clients, primarily focused on their Precinct building Brisbane, with responsibilities extending to other government sites in Brisbane as required by the Agency.
The On-site Facilities Manager reports to the National Facilities Manager and is expected to demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders. This role requires a combination of management skills and practical, hands-on abilities to effectively manage the facilities and perform necessary maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Maintenance and Operations:
Oversee daily maintenance of the building and environment at the, Brisbane siteEnsure all operations and maintenance activities comply with workplace health and safety legislation and other relevant regulationsConduct general repairs and maintenance across the Clients Brisbane property portfolioPerform minor building work, furniture repairs/alterations, and office modificationsInstall and remove whiteboards, plaques, signage, and screensExecute general and preventative maintenance of office buildings and operational facilitiesReplace carpet tiles and perform patching and painting as neededOversee plant and equipment maintenance, ensuring proper record-keeping of maintenance, inspections, and servicesStakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, tradespeople, and suppliersLiaise with and oversee service contractors, acting as an information conduit between clients, contractors, and building managementCollaborate with the Landlord's Facilities Manager on routine site inspections and reportingCompliance and Risk Management:
Adhere to FM and building standard operational procedures and systems manualsHandyperson Duties:
Oversee hands-on maintenance and repair tasks as requiredUtilize technical skills to oversee addressing minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance issuesMaintain an inventory of tools and supplies necessary for day-to-day operationsBefore you apply it’s worth knowing what we are looking for:
Demonstrated knowledge of building technical services, especially HVAC, fire protection and electrical services.
Ability to deal with a variety of complex issues concurrently, within tight operational deadlines.
Goal oriented and focused on meeting performance targets.
Excellent client service and communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Sound computer skills including Microsoft suite of products.
Be punctual, well presented, helpful and reliable at all times.
