Job Overview Supervises, directs, and coordinates all activities relating to the operations and maintenance of Midway facilities to include power production, water plant operations, mechanical and electrical shops, and work control management. Participates in facility and infrastructure planning as they relate to future use of the Island. Assesses buildings/structures and develops approved maintenance plan and work control schedules for each building including infrastructure support items such as (piers, roads, sidewalks, lighting, etc). Assesses building/structural repairs and develops cost estimates for submission as Over and Above work. Develops a grounds maintenance plan commensurate with contract standards and insures work conforms to industry standards, manufacturer’s recommendation, and appropriate statutory guidance. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Oversees the supervision of a multi-trades workforce engaged in activities associated with the operations and maintenance (O&M) of various buildings, structures, power production and water treatment facilities. Supervises minor construction, repairs, preventative maintenance, modifications and alterations of facilities. Implements procedures and methods necessary to accomplish assigned tasks and inspects work for conformance to specifications. Evaluates, analyzes and resolves construction and mechanical problems. Coordinates daily work and repair schedules. Resolves technical problems encountered by O&M personnel. Coordinates material requirements, logistical support, and provides cost estimates for projects. Follows, develops, and implements a viable safety / preventative maintenance program. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Displays good communication and organizational skills; must be self-motivated and work well as a team player in a challenging and atypical working environment. Performs other duties and activities as directed. Job Requirements Mandatory: U.S. citizenship. Two (2) years college or High school graduate with equivalent knowledge and skill to perform all of the duties in this performance description. Four (4) years of progressive experience within O&M services. Two (2) years training in any skilled trade, e.g. plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc. Knowledge of the standard practices in the building trades; plumbing; carpentry; electrical; masonry; painting; welding; sheet metal; refrigeration and air conditioning, and mechanical trades. Ability to read, interpret and work from sketches, blueprints and specifications. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently at the technical level. Must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals and generate technical reports. Ability to keep careful and thorough records. Hold a valid driver’s license.
