The Role:
Controls Automation Manager will lead, guide, and direct a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives. Work is a technical nature with leadership responsibilities. Using independent judgment focusing on automation and Plant Floor Systems, Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE) for the Orion Site. You will aid in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing and automation problems and assist in obtaining resources to effectively support operations.
What You'll Do:
Manage Controls engineering Operations team supporting operations, new technology deployment and production critical automation systems.Provides technical leadership to work teamInteracts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionallyLeads team on new methods or initiatives without defined proceduresLeads team to meet targetsReviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documentsIdentifies & leads staffing initiatives for work teamConducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety MessagesCreates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities (may include preparing and giving presentations)Ensure employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibilityUnderstands & supports employee's career development goalsDevelops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacityAssigns and manages workload for direct reportsReviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related dataEvaluating Performance and Behaviors: Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedbackConducts performance interventions when necessaryFormally & informally recognizes employee's contributionsProvides timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriateParticipates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatmentObserves and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issuesAssure GM controls standards are implementedAssure GM safety standards are followedDevelop Strategies legacy manufacturing technologiesUnderstand innovations within the industry and how GM can benefit from these technologiesLead Global Collaboration of common software across multiple locationsProvide Regular Updates to Management, Maintain Metrics Relevant to current battery programsSupport HRM process - Develop Bench Strength and Support Employee’s Career Development.

Additional Job DescriptionRequired Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical (other technical disciplines may be considered if: 7+ Years direct technical controls experience)Prior Salaried people leader experienceAbility to work OT and off-shift on an as needed basisAbility to travel around 15% of the time (US)Experienced in program management of automated systemsProficient in robotics, coding, programming, automation, deliveryAdditional Qualifications:
10+ years technical controls and/or assembly knowledge & experienceMBA/MS Engineering or Business AdministrationPrior leadership experienceExperience in General Assembly controls architecturePrior Manufacturing assignment & solid working relationship with UAWDemonstrated strong interpersonal skills and track record of working collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve project/program deliverables on timeDemonstrated willingness to escalate emerging issues and leads team to resolve quickly and competentlyWork on optimization bin picking applicationsWorks constructively with others under pressure to achieve all Project ImperativesKnowledge with Fanuc automation and vision systemEnsure Direct Reports are Trained and Fully Competent in All Required Technical Areas as Well as SafetyIncorporate Lessons Learned and Cost Savings Initiatives into Appropriate Standards.
