Facilities Compliance Specialist - Centralized Facilities Management - Full Time

This position oversees the Life Safety and Environment of Care programs, policies, and procedures that supports facility operations across ProMedica’s Provider business unit. Key interactions include Facilities Management, internal and external authority having jurisdiction stakeholders, and Provider business unit and corporate service leaders. ACCOUNTABILITIES *All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise* 1. Defines program controls, such as processes, policies, procedures, reporting, etc., to manage the program. Plans the overall program and monitors progress to make sure that milestones are being met across the various projects and programs. 2. Evaluates by conducting annual life safety compliance audits within the facility operations across ProMedica’s Provider Business Unit with the applicable standards, laws, rules, and regulations. 3. Responsible for coordinating and supporting regulatory activities relating to Life Safety activities, identifying processes, and monitoring of ongoing conditions to assure a safe environment of care for patients, visitors, and employees. 4. Acts as back up to Facility Department Leadership and provides 24/7 on-call coverage as needed or at managers discretion. 5. Active participant in Performance Improvement activities and successful Joint Commission and DOH survey outcomes. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Life Safety code and Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety standards. 6. Enforces regulations and standards concerning the NFPA Life Safety Code and Environment of Care Chapter, as well as applicable standards set forth by the Joint Commission, CMS, HFAP, NFPA and other authority having jurisdiction. 7. Develop and provide various system training programs and tools for maintenance and MyLearning programs. 8. Performs research related to Facilities Compliance to assure applicable standards, laws, rules, and regulations are being met. 9. All other duties assigned. Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or 5 years of experience related to life safety and environment of care. Skills: Ability to navigate building code/standards and apply required elements to building reviews, print reviews. Ability to identify State Codes, NFPA/CMS/JC/HFAP non-compliant life safety conditions and initiate corrective actions. The ability to communicate clearly and appropriately in all areas of responsibility. Demonstrated knowledge of Building codes/standards and ability to explain/educate as needed. Years of Experience: 5-9 years License: Must maintain a valid driver’s license Certification: NFPA Membership PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or 10 years of experience related to life safety and environment of care. Skills: Experience in a multi-hospital system. Years of Experience: 10+ years License: Must maintain a valid driver’s license Certification: Prefer recognized expertise in Life Safety Code (CLSS-HS), Affiliations with NFPA, ASHE, ASHRE and/or other related accepted standards of compliance. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE Desirable knowledge includes: NFPA code, environment of care & life safety standards. WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: May require respiratory protection or respirator fit testing. Understanding and proper use of isolation gowns, gloves, masks, shoe covers, hairnets and covers. Physical Demands: Ability to work with computers, in various hazardous environments, remain on your feet for extended periods, and walk entire building locations. Climbing ladders, walking roof areas as required following all appropriate safety measures.
