Job Description
The Fabricator is responsible for creating and constructing patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting, assembling, fitting, and welding metal sections and plates, and installing fabricated components in the final products. This position requires the use of various light and heavy machinery to make precise cuts and assemble the fabricated components into complete units.
ResponsibilitiesCreate and construct patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting.Operate light machinery, including brake presses, shears, cutting torches, and grinders.Layout reference points and patterns on heavy metals according to the templates or blueprints.Assemble, fit, and weld metal sections and plates to create complete units or subunits.Install fabricated components in the final product.Preheat workpieces to render them malleable.Monitor the quality of fabrication and production.Set up and operate heavy machine tools, such as radial drills, end mills, and edge planers.Monitor materials usage and report any material issues.Maintain a working knowledge of changes in fabricating compliance, practices, and techniques.Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.Follow workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, and participate in identifying hazards.Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor.Comply with all rules, regulations, protocols, and established metrics.Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed and plan the sequence of tasks.Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.Effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work.Accurately complete work orders and time cards.Cross-train on other functions at the facility as required.Perform other assigned tasks.Essential Skills5+ years of fabrication experience.Ability to read and interpret blueprints or fabrication drawings.Experience working outside in all weather conditions.3rd or 4th year schooling or red seal fabricator.Proficiency in flux core welding, flux core MIG, FCAW, SMAW, and stick welding.CWB ticket certification.Experience with mild steel fabrication and fitting.Blueprint reading and grinding skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsForklift experience.Knowledge of confined space procedures.Understanding of class production.Marine experience.Additional CWB qualifications.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
Work both indoors in confined spaces and outdoors, including yard work and tasks up to 25 feet high. Utilize wire feed welding machines. Dress code includes steel-toed safety boots, welding helmets, and safety glasses/goggles provided on-site. Candidates should have their own basic tools like chipping hammers. The location is on Mitchell Island, Richmond, Canada, and the shift is from 7:30 am to 4 pm, with occasional overtime and travel to off-site locations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
