Fabricator

In this position...
As a Senior Prototype Fabricator, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of complex components for prototype vehicles. You will interpret engineering designs, provide feedback on manufacturability, and solve fabrication challenges. Your expertise in welding, metal forming, and precision cutting will be essential to creating high-quality prototypes. You will also mentor junior fabricators and contribute to the development of improved fabrication processes.
 

You'll have…


• 5-7+ years MIG welding steel.
• 5-7+ years TIG welding aluminum, steel, stainless steel.
• Proficient layout and measurement skills utilizing calipers, tape measures, protractors, and fixturing tools.
• Comfortable handling and working with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber,      fiberglass, foams, plastics, etc...
• High attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
• Ability and willingness to give direction and mentor junior staff.
• Physical job requirements:
- Ability to lift 50-70lbs.
- Stand for long periods of time, bend or twist body, kneel, stoop, or crouch.


Our preferred requirements

• Experienced with 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Experience operating CNC equipment (e.g. waterjet, laser cutter, plasma table)
• Composite layup experience.
• Experience building prototype vehicles.

This position is a salary grade 7.

What you'll do...

• Read, interpret, and build to blueprints, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings.
• Utilize handheld power and pneumatic tools such as grinders, sanders, drills, impacts, saws.
• Utilize shop equipment such as waterjet, CNC press brake, manual mill, lathe, bandsaw, belt and disc grinders, hydraulic shear, hydraulic press, table saw, miter saw, etc...
• Prep materials and fabricate simple to complex components and assemblies.
• Proactively track, document, and provide feedback with clear communication to management and engineers on project status and outcomes.
• Maintain a clean and productive workplace.
