Job Description

Our work depends on an Information Security Analyst to provide knowledge-based information assurance and cybersecurity IT services to the F-35 Directorate of Cyber Integration (DCI) in support of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO) in Arlington, VA.

 

The F-35 Lightning II Program is the Department of Defense's focal point for defining affordable next generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The F-35 will bring cutting-edge technologies to the battlespace of the future. The JSFs advanced airframe, autonomic logistics, avionics, propulsion systems, stealth, and firepower will ensure that the F-35 is the most affordable, lethal, supportable and survivable aircraft ever to be used by so many warfighters across the globe.

 

HOW OUR INFORMATION SECURITY ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.

Monitor, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to safeguard internal information systems, network, databases, and Web-based security

Monitors and analyzes Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to identify security issues for remediation

Recognizes potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information

Evaluates firewall change requests and assesses organizational risk

Communicates alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems

Assists with implementation of countermeasures or mitigating controls

Conducts regular audits to ensure that systems are being operated securely, and information systems security policies and procedures are being implemented as defined in security plans

Develops, tests, and operates firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise antivirus systems and software deployment tools

Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure

Researches, evaluates, tests, and implements new security software or devices

Conducts investigations of information systems security violations and incidents, reporting as necessary to management

Ensures the integrity and protection of networks, systems, and applications by technical enforcement of organizational security policies, through monitoring of vulnerability scanning devices

Implements, enforces, communicates, and develops security policies or plans for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and information systems security education/awareness programs

Performs periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance

Prepares incident reports of analysis methodology and results

Ensure compliance with regulations and privacy laws

May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

May serve as a team or task lead

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):

Security Clearance Level: Active Secret clearance.

Required Experience: 6 years of experience designing and developing organizational information systems or upgrading legacy systems, employing best practices when implementing security controls within an information system including software engineering methodologies, system/security engineering principles, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding techniques.

Required Certifications:

DoD Manual 8140.03 (441) Network Operations Specialist – Intermediate.

Education: BS or BA degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology, or relevant IT discipline. Allowable Substitution: 6 years of related experience or 4 years of related experience with an AA/AS degree.

Work Location: Hybrid - 3 days onsite in Arlington, VA; 2 days remote
