Extrusion TechnicianJob Description

As an Extrusion Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating extrusion machines to process various materials and sizes. You will be integral in ensuring the continuous operation of the extrusion process, maintaining high-quality standards, and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

ResponsibilitiesSet up, adjust, and operate extrusion machines for various materials and sizes.Load materials into the extruder and adjust feed mechanisms to set feed rates.Observe machine operations, control boards, and gauges to detect defective material or machine malfunctions.Troubleshoot and make adjustments to maintain high-quality standards.Modify and change tooling to establish new product sizes.Establish processing parameters for new products.Assist and perform installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), performance qualification (PQ) activities.Train new and existing operators on all processes and paperwork.Inspect finished products for sub-standard quality and take corrective action.Ensure continuous operations by monitoring and adjusting machine parameters.Conduct in-process and final inspections of tubing to meet quality specifications.Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines.Prepare finished parts for material handling.Mentor and train others eagerly.Record information accurately on Extrusion Data History Records, Quality Documents, and Lab Notebooks.Follow verbal and written instructions and be accountable for actions.Adhere to safety and quality standards while working within a team environment.Promote job and process improvements through initiatives such as 5S.Respond to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in extrusion, particularly in medical device manufacturing.Experience with machine, equipment, and line extrusion.Ability to read and comprehend engineering work instructions, schematics, and design documentation.Proficiency in setting up machines and troubleshooting.Knowledge of GMP, machine operation, IQ/OQ processes, corrective action plans, and maintenance.Experience in material handling and using material-handling equipment.Familiarity with catheter and CNC processes.Additional Skills & Qualifications3-5 years of related experience in the medical device industry.Working knowledge of engineering principles.Proficiency with Microsoft desktop environment: Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent planning and organizational skills.Experience with machinery and equipment maintenance.Exposure to automation, including pneumatic systems, mechanical motion systems, and electrical drive systems.Knowledge of operating, debugging, and maintaining automated systems.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $87000.00/yr.
