In this position...

The Ford Exterior Lighting Electronics & Software Engineer role interfaces with a variety of engineering fields including mechanical, electrical, software, and optics. This position involves responsibilities including definition of requirements, electronics design, software development, tooling, validation testing, and launching in an assembly plant during the development of Exterior Lighting products throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle. This role requires an engineer to lead and drive a cross functional team that includes lighting suppliers, electronics suppliers, optics, software developers, studio, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality functions. Our ideal candidate desires to build their career as an engineer within exterior lighting. This candidate must demonstrate clear communication and project management skills and is a passionate, hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions.

You'll have...

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, or Software Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 2+ years experience in related automotive and/or lighting electronics and software applications (inclusive of professional, co-op, and internship positions).Ability to travel domestic and international

Even better, you may have…

Master’s Degree Familiarity with the engineering design of exterior lighting electronics componentsFamiliarity with Design For Six Sigma processExperience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), ISO standards, and electronics/software development standardsKnowledge of global lighting regulations

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .

Ford will not be offering a relocation package for this position. Candidates for this role are expected to either reside within commuting distance of our Dearborn, MI office or be able to relocate independently without financial assistance from the company.
