Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
What You’ll Bring
Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement legislation and policy relevant to Defence Projects Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders Ability to develop and maintain Project Plans, Instructions, and Registers Experience with records and information management, preferably in a Defence environment Experience in and knowledge of US export controls and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS)Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.

What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
Regularly engage with their equivalent counterparts in industry to facilitate export controls approvals. Develop export control approval application packages such as Third Party Retransfers and Technical Assistance Agreements. Support auditing and record keeping of export controls agreements, and would assist the Export Control Manager with the development and maturation of the organisations export controls management framework.
