**Job Summary**
The Export Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all rack build projects at our data center factory fully comply with domestic and international export regulations. This specialist will be a key liaison between engineering, logistics, sales, and legal teams, focusing on global shipping requirements, documentation standards, and customer-facing guides and collateral. The role will drive best practices, risk mitigation, and facilitate seamless international shipments.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Export Compliance & Risk Management**
+ Monitor and interpret export regulations (e.g., BIS, EAR, ITAR, and international equivalents) relevant to rack builds and associated hardware.
+ Assess product classification (ECCN, HTS codes) and ensure proper licensing, permits, and documentation for all international shipments.
+ Classify hardware, software, and technology according to applicable export control regimes.
+ Obtain and manage export licenses, permits, and other necessary documentation.
+ Ensure that all rack build-related products, software, and technical data are accurately documented and compliant prior to export or transfer.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain internal export compliance policies and procedures tailored to rack manufacturing and deployment.
+ Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate compliance gaps or risks.
**International Shipping Coordination**
+ Act as primary point of contact for all international shipping activities related to data center rack builds.
+ Work closely with logistics and freight partners to ensure shipments meet all regulatory, customs, and documentation requirements.
+ Oversee timely completion and accuracy of shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export declarations, etc.).
**Documentation, Guides, and Best Practices**
+ Create and maintain comprehensive export compliance guides and checklists for internal teams (engineering, operations, sales).
+ Develop and update best practice manuals for handling international shipments, including country-specific requirements and escalation protocols.
+ Train internal stakeholders (IDCS, sales, logistics) on export compliance requirements and documentation procedures.
**Sales Enablement & Customer Collateral**
+ Partner with sales and marketing teams to develop customer-facing collateral that clearly communicates export capabilities, lead times, and compliance assurances.
+ Provide pre-sales consultation for international opportunities, advising on restrictions, timelines, and required documentation.
+ Support RFP/RFQ responses with accurate, up-to-date export compliance and logistics information.
**Continuous Improvement**
+ Stay current with changes in export regulations and proactively communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders.
+ Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline compliance workflows and enhance customer experience.
+ Foster a culture of compliance and cross-functional collaboration within the data center factory environment.
The estimated annual pay range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 which includes a base and bonus structure. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
