Our Australian Munitions teams in Benalla and Mulwala produce propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. Supported by ongoing investment into research and development, we produce some of the world’s most high-performing guided weapons and explosive ordnance systems. And being at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry gives our teams constant opportunities to build on their technical expertise.

Working at our Mulwala site - Yorta Yorta land, the Explosive Range Manager oversees the testing, evaluation, and development of explosive products and ballistic systems to ensure they meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.

This role also includes supervising and training Technical Officers, Shot Firers, and Technical Assistants, as well as reviewing all reports for accuracy before release.

Your role will focus on:

Perform work requiring technical knowledge both routine and non-routine as required for chemical and instrumental analysis

Supervise, train and assist team members engaged in routine analytical procedures on propellants, ballistics, cast composite and high explosives

Supervise, train and mentor team members involved in teats & trial site activities.

Understand, develop and implement Quality Control techniques

Ensure compliance with and be responsible for the safe working practices and maintenance operations within the work area

Function as an ISO/IEC 17025 signatory where applicable

Undertake duties as a Clearance Officer for area of responsibility

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours: 

Degree qualified in a relevant field or equivalent experience 

Certified Workplace Trainer & Assessor (desirable)

In-depth knowledge of laboratory calibrations, standardization procedures, and quality control techniques 

Explosive Licence (Unsupervised Handling) & Shotfirer certification (desirable)

Availability to work site based

The U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
