Key Results/ Accountabilities expected from role:

Safety and Compliance

Expert Team Leader Industrial will manage groups of industrial  oil technologist and grease technologist in industrial technology China team. This role will ensure daily operations for fulfilling responsibilities in a safe manner and conform to bp Castrol value, code of conduct and internal policies.

Formulation Technology

Have deep understanding of industrial lubricants product formulation techniques (base oils, additives, blending, performance assessment etc.) and product applications (gear oils, hydraulic oils, compressor oils, turbine oils etc.) which will lead practical and effective solutions to internal/external customers especially the manufacturers or industrial users in automotive, metal processing, machinery, aerospace, bearings, gears, steel etc.

Play leader/driver or supporter role in technical programs (projects, cases or tasks), especially new formulation development, formulation changes, technical support and service and expert opinions input, targeting business growth and technology innovation in typical lubricant oil and grease applications like metal removing, deformation, hydraulic system, turbines, gears or bearings.

Provide product/application advice to sales/customers and support CLT Technologist tags with product recommendations for existing business and new business opportunities including support for OEM teams and OEM product approval renewals, typically in machinery, aerospace, mining, gears and hydraulic industries.

Product Applied Technology

As the expert team lead for oil and grease, this role should demonstrate the leadership and will lead, drive or support various activities of establishing, developing and reinforcing Castrol’s technology capabilities and competitiveness in industrial oil and grease areas, following the strategy of business unit and technology team.

Demonstrate skillful practices in handling complex trouble-shooting cases by following systematic methods and utilizing various problem-solving tools, aiming the integrated solutions to issues including wear, friction, ageing, contamination etc.

Innovation and Engineering

Develop technology team’s core technology competence by high credits of expertise and innovation-oriented research and study on industrial lubricants mega-trends, emerging application scenarios in manufacturing and lubricants industries and performance demand for lubricants products and competition products, typically in wind energy, robot, chemistry, mining, steel industries etc.

Develop strategic technical relationships with top OEMs, Key Additive Suppliers, Industrial Associations and Universities in lubricant oil and grease industries to enable access to novel, leading edge additive technologies and processes.

Team Management

Ensure a smooth daily operation of the oil and grease team including routine management reviews or approvals within the team.

Manage resources allocation within the team to ensure efficient productivity and deliverables according to programs or projects.

Experience & Expertise (mandatory & desired) :

Deep understanding of formulation technology (chemistry and metallography) and lubricants application scenarios will be highly appreciated.

Show the capabilities of management in a systematic and professional approaches.

Demonstrated advanced skills in problem analysis, experiment design, data processing and reporting.

Proven broad experience of product development and technology deployment, especially the capabilities of developing an idea to a solution.

Broad knowledge of lubricant science and technology with deep insight to the application scenarios.

Wide connections with industrial partners including companies, institutes and researchers.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience of working across teams.

Strong capabilities of international and interculture communication in written and oral practices.

Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical discipline.
