Job Details:
PurposeThe Exhibitions Coordinator coordinates, implements, and runs existing revenue-generating signature exhibitions (e.g., Fortlandia and Luminations) and new exhibitions and installations at the Wildflower Center. The ideal candidate will work as a member of the Hospitality Team in tight coordination with events, guest services, gardens, lands, and other staff. This position supervises exhibition installation, implementation, break-down, and post-project reporting. Creativity and vision are equally important as production and maintenance of the exhibitions.
ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Director of Hospitality and Center staff to plan, facilitate, and execute annual exhibitions, including signature and seasonal exhibitions. Duties include working within budget, managing installation and deinstallation schedules, communicating with vendors, securing financial information from vendors and artists for payment, and submitting requests, receipts and invoices through proper Wildflower Center and University of Texas at Austin protocol.
Communicate and coordinate exhibition planning, schedules, and content with staff and volunteers through presentations, inter-departmental meetings, and active working sessions.
Participate in the creative process with other team and community members to identify and vet new exhibitions. Research, analyze, and make recommendations for new exhibitions and programs.
Work with Events Manager to schedule Guest Experience Associates (GEAs) and/or Event workers for special events as needed, and coordinate volunteer help with the Volunteer Manager. Train support staff and volunteers to assist with exhibitions.
Provide on-site management during the run of exhibitions, being physically present to provide technical, staff, and guest support, Support exhibition related programming as needed.

Required QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of experience developing and managing exhibitions in a museum, stage production, botanic garden, or other facility with public programs involving large-scale installations and equipment.
Experience managing art or light show installations in outdoor spaces.
Experience working with machinery and fabrication.
Technical skills related to stage management and set building.
Must be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and comfortably in written and spoken word with staff, volunteers, and the media, individually and in large or small groups.
Strong computer skills with a high degree of competency in Microsoft Office suite.
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to be self-motivated, yet flexible and adaptable to unforeseen challenges.
Creativity, imagination, and original thinking.
Must be able to work both independently and with a team.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
Experience in a university, botanic garden, or museum setting.
Proven track record in designing and managing successful projects or programs.
Project management certification.
Driving RequiredThis job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range$45,000 + depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsWill work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
Long and varied hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required during setup, run time, and breakdown of special events and exhibitions.
Work performed on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations, at night, on weekends, and on holidays.
May work around standard office conditions, including repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
Will be required to lift heavy objects.
Work ShiftMonday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; evenings, weekends, and holidays will be required during exhibition season.
