The Corporate Communications team within the Executive Office of Goldman Sachs seeks to promote and protect the firm's reputation, brand and franchise position. The Vice President – Media Relations role in our Washington, DC office focuses on all aspects of Public Affairs for the Corporate Communications team.

We’re seeking exceptional candidates who have experience working in or with the federal government and the intersection with finance, economics and public policy. You'll join an international communications team with backgrounds in global finance, data & analytics, technology, media and public policy.

Corporate Communications sits with the Executive Office, which comprises various teams that help shape the firm’s corporate strategy, culture, and brand. Whether communicating with employees, managing our brand and reputation or articulating our strategy to investors and analysts, our work directly impacts how the firm is viewed by a variety of crucial stakeholders. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as an on-the-record media spokespersonHelp develop and execute proactive public affairs strategies across a variety of issues impacting business, the economy and the financial services industryOversee and directly advise senior executives on communications for a portfolio of groups within the firm, including the Office of Government and Regulatory Affairs and the Office of Corporate Engagement, which manages the firm’s philanthropic strategyDevelop messaging strategies and execute on deliverables including talking points, executive briefings and statementsStay one step ahead of the policy-making environment to advise senior executives and the firm’s clients on potential public affairs matters or reputational issuesMaintain relationships with editors and reporters to best position the firm and priority issuesAdvise and work with vendors and internal staff to execute advocacy campaigns on behalf of the firm’s 10,000 Small Business Voices initiativeServe as a proactive advisor to trade associations, non-profit stakeholders and public affairs agencies who work on behalf of the firm and the broader industryWork with industry colleagues on public policy campaign initiativesContribute to media monitoring, analysis and reporting to provide timely updates and insights to senior leadershipCollaborate with other Executive Office functions to handle corporate issues for the firm in a holistic manner

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE

7-10 years of experience at a financial services firm, government organization, trade association or consulting groupExperience as an on-the-record spokesperson in a fast-paced media environmentAbility to conduct in-depth research and develop strategic solutions to complex problemsExcellent organizational skills, with an ability to effectively manage your time, work across projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic media environment Commitment to ensuring high quality of work that reflects a strong attention to detail Strong written and verbal skills with a demonstrable passion for communications and knowledge of the media landscapeEnthusiastic, high energy and team-oriented with a “can do” approachSkilled writer with experience developing high-quality materials for internal and external audiencesA personal reputation for honesty, integrity and above-reproach ethicsBasic proficiency in Smartsheet, Sharepoint, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

 

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Washington, District of Columbia, United States-based position is $125000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
