Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Your New Role...

The Executive Editor is A LEADER ON CNN’s features management team, executing a creative editorial vision with hands-on enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will be a strong people manager who has run reporters and managed writers and editors — someone who understands how to make great things happen across teams and collaborate across a newsroom. The best candidate will have the steely will of an editor-in-chief with the word-by-word focus of a hungry junior editor.

Your Role Accountabilities…

Lead and inspire teams that create features journalism, including profiles, news, explainers, explorations, investigations, riffs, and work that defies categorization. Oversee stories of all lengths and speeds, ranging from deeply serious to playfully irreverent, including visually led storytelling. Shape and execute editorial strategy with precision, balancing creative vision with hands-on editing. Collaborate across newsroom disciplines — from hard news to visuals to video — to produce cohesive, compelling content. Support reporters from idea to reporting plan to execution, helping shape stories with clarity and purpose. Champion unconventional ideas and help turn them into impactful journalism. Make key editorial decisions, including greenlighting, spiking, and allocating resources. Manage multiple stories and long-term projects simultaneously. Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and editorial excellence. Provide empathetic and direct leadership, mentoring editorial talent and supporting team growth.

Qualifications & Experience…

Minimum 10 years of editorial experience, with a strong background in features journalism. Proven success managing editorial teams and collaborating across departments. Exceptional editing talent, both hands-on and strategic. Strong editorial judgment and decision-making skills. Experience producing profiles, explainers, investigations, and visually led stories. Deep understanding of audience engagement and service journalism. Strength in multitasking and managing complex editorial workflows. Ability to stand strong for a vision in the face of adversity. Empathetic and direct management style, with a commitment to team development.

Desirable Qualities…

Exceptional story-crafting instincts, with strong opinions about how stories should be told. A working theory on how a profile should be done — and a love of chasing down gossip heard at dinner parties. Ability to turn a wisp of an idea into a fully formed story. A healthy skepticism of press junkets.A belief that no pleasure is a "guilty pleasure" – if it delights, it may deserve a headline; joy is a valid editorial lens. You always take “this is dumb but…” as a challenge. Passion for helping audiences learn. Enjoys riffing on ideas and shaping unconventional pitches into real stories. Thrives in collaborative environments and values cross-disciplinary teamwork.

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
