Develops and executes the lab-wide strategy for compliance, quality, and accreditation across all IU Health hospitals, laboratories, and clinical settings. Establishes governance structures that standardize policies, assign accountability, and streamline compliance decision-making. Leads the design and implementation of a centralized Quality Management System (QMS) to monitor, report, and respond to compliance risks. Anticipates and proactively addresses emerging regulatory requirements by engaging key stakeholders in strategic planning and readiness. Aligns compliance initiatives with IU Health’s long-term strategic goals, population health priorities, and transformation agenda. Oversees the development and use of compliance dashboards and analytic tools to ensure timely data access and decision support. Partners with clinical, operational, legal, and quality leaders to ensure integrated and consistent compliance practices within IU Health Lab Services and across impacted functions. Develops departmental budgets and ensures resource alignment with compliance and accreditation priorities. Mentors and develops leadership talent across the OCAQ structure; supports career development and succession planning. Serves as a system lab liaison to regulatory bodies and represents IU Health in lab inspections, surveys, and accreditation visits.
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates for the position will be selected from a diverse pool and will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree strongly preferred (Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business, or related field). 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in compliance, accreditation, or healthcare quality, preferably within an integrated health system. Require 4 years of people leader experience. Experience building and implementing quality systems and governance frameworks. Demonstrated success leading complex, matrixed teams and multi-site operations. Proven ability to strategize, communicate, and influence at the executive level. Deep understanding of regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA, TJC, CMS, FDA) and lab operations. Proficiency with compliance and analytics platforms (Cerner or Epic is preferred). Lean or process improvement certification desired (e.g., Lean Six Sigma). Demonstrated ability to act as a change agent, lead through ambiguity, and align stakeholders to a shared vision.
