The Executive Director, Supply Chain Sourcing leads the development and execution of enterprise-wide sourcing strategies that ensure optimal cost, quality, and outcomes in support of Cleveland Clinic’s mission to provide world-class patient care. This role oversees strategic sourcing, category management, contracting, and supplier relationship management to ensure the effective procurement of supplies, equipment, and services while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. The Executive Director partners closely with clinical practice leaders to align sourcing decisions with patient care needs and organizational priorities. Serve as senior leader within the Supply Chain and Support Services team. This position has oversight for all sourcing categories, including Physician Preference Items (PPI), Commodities, Pharmacy (Rx), Capital Equipment, and Indirect spend such as IT and Facilities

A caregiver in this position works onsite, weekdays from 8:00AM – 5:00PM. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

 

Strategic Leadership 

Develop and lead enterprise-wide sourcing strategies that optimize total cost of ownership and deliver value across all categories. 

Lead teams responsible for strategic sourcing, category management, contracting, and supplier relationship management, driving operational excellence and measurable outcomes. 

Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities and innovative supplier partnerships to further support Cleveland Clinic’s mission. 

 

Operational Management 

Oversee sourcing operations and contracting activities to ensure efficient, compliant processes that support clinical and operational goals. 

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to enable data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. 

Owns enterprise saving goal, continually achieving and growing savings through effective execution 

Serve as voting member of Excelerate GPO sourcing committee, and lead sourcing strategy for the GPO.  Serving a significant quantity of other health systems, this requires interface with Vizient’s sourcing and Excelerate leadership team, suppliers, and customers. 

Own and drive the e-procurement technology roadmap to advance digital sourcing capabilities. 

Partner with peers across Supply Chain to drive continuous improvement and lean projects, such as supply conversions, price discrepancy resolution, and process optimizations. 

 

Clinical and Stakeholder Engagement 

Partner with clinical practice leaders and operational stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities that enhance patient care, safety, and outcomes.  Develop and build relationships with key enterprise stakeholders, maintaining their trust and ensuring they use sourcing services for all needs.  

Leads clinical engagement in the sourcing process, with medical director supervision, partnering with clinical committees and overseeing value analysis.  Drive clinical adoption of formulary selection and monitor performance. 

Lead interface with executive teams on sourcing initiatives and approvals. 

 

Supplier Relationship Management 

Develop and manage strategic supplier partnerships to drive innovation, quality improvement, and sustainability. 

Oversee supplier performance and accountability to Cleveland Clinic standards and contractual commitments. 

Work directly with strategic suppliers on long term strategies, setting win-win approaches that drive value. 

Foster supplier collaboration to co-develop innovations that enhance care delivery and identify shared revenue opportunities. 

 

Compliance and Risk Management 

Ensure sourcing and contracting activities adhere to Cleveland Clinic policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. 

Identify sourcing-related risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. 

 

Team Leadership 

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sourcing and contracting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. 

 

External Representation 

Represent Cleveland Clinic at external conferences, industry forums, and supplier events as a thought leader in healthcare sourcing. 

 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

 

Bachelor's degree in management, business, or other related field required. 

A minimum of 15 years of experience, which includes demonstrated operations/supply chain experience managing multiple sites and geographies. 

Offset: Master’s degree and 10 years of experience. 

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, vision and direction with multi-site responsibilities. 

Strong communication and analytical skills are required. 

Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sourcing and contracting initiatives that deliver cost savings and enhance operational and clinical outcomes. 

Strong leadership skills with experience building and leading high-performing teams. 

Ability to influence and partner effectively with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders in a large, matrixed organization. 

Knowledge of healthcare supply markets, contracting practices, regulatory requirements, and supplier relationship management best practices.  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Master’s degree in related field.  

Healthcare experience preferred. 

Pharmacy degree may be preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

Personal Protective Equipment:
