Position Summary
The Rice University School of Architecture seeks an Events & Media Specialist to support the school’s events, social media, digital asset management, and archiving. This role is responsible for event planning, execution, A/V set-up and support, as well as photography, videography, and social media content production across multiple platforms, including podcasts. Additionally, they will collaborate with various staff to ensure all digital media assets—from faculty and student work to all communications collaterals—are retained in alignment with the school’s archival standards. The Events & Media Specialist will uphold professionalism, discretion, efficiency, and attention to detail consistent with Rice School of Architecture's values.
The ideal candidate will possess a refined visual sensibility, technical curiosity, and strong organizational skills—time and task management, detail focus, professionalism, discretion, and relationship-building skills. They will assist with event planning, set up, execution, and clean up; provide advanced and complex multimedia technical support for events, conferences, meetings and the like; identify and recommend appropriate vendors for activities that require more advanced A/V needs; produce visual and social media content and maintain archives of projects, photos, graphics, and other printed and digital media produced for the school. We seek a highly motivated colleague who can thrive in a creative, fast-paced environment and deliver results while working on multiple tasks and deadlines. Work is performed autonomously and, at times, without specific instructions or prescribed procedures and with delegated authority to exercise discretion and judgment regarding matters related to the school’s technical needs. Experience in the fields of architecture, art, or design is a plus.

Working Requirements
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in person at Anderson Hall from Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and occasional evenings. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a hiring range of $65,000 - $69,000. *Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree 3+ years’ experience in multimedia services and social media administrationSkills:
Proficient in the operation a variety of audio, visual and other multimedia equipment, components and applications Proficient in Adobe Suite, social media platforms, and other digital media software Proficient in photography, video, and image editing Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair multimedia equipment Ability to find and diagnose common system configuration problems. Serves as project manager for multiple initiatives, including scoping project tasks and team assignments, developing work plans and schedules, monitoring progress, meeting milestones, and providing status updates. Oversees event production, including managing event teams and/or consultants to ensure high-quality, multi-faceted events and productions. Represents the department in cross-departmental project meetings and builds collaborative relationships with internal and external university partners. Plans and manages event registration strategy and logistics. Sets up, operates, and maintains technical equipment for events, classes, meetings, conferences, presentations, videos, and other productions, including microphones, speakers, video monitors, projectors, recording equipment, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic systems. Manages the School of Architecture social media accounts Produces, captures, edits, and publishes videos and photos; may also create visual graphics, audio tracks, and lighting as needed. Ensures smooth operation of audio-visual presentations and equipment; installs, diagnoses, repairs, and monitors media systems and components. Maintains inventory and performs routine maintenance on media and repair equipment. Provides training and technical assistance to users on equipment operation. Supports live and recorded formats, including presentations, podcasts, and webinars. Maintains a digital asset management system and media archive.
