Job DescriptionWe’re seeking a proactive event producer with proven collaboration, project management, and problem-solving skills to contribute to the growth and development of GDC. This role is the main contact and strategic lead behind the Game Developer Choice Awards (GDCA) & Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards programs and community spaces at the Game Developers Conference.
You will oversee the GDCA & IGF Awards, responsible for coordinating, prioritizing, and proactively chasing deliverables to ensure all milestones are met and the events are executed successfully.
Role Description
Support Event Director in executing Awards and community spaces for GDC by managing tasks, timelines, resources, and budget to meet Informa Festivals business objectivesMotivate, guide, and support diverse internal & external stakeholders to ensure all milestones are met; proactively engage and hold stakeholders accountable for deliverablesWork with the IGF Chairperson (external contractor) to project-manage smooth execution of IGF call for submissions and finalist/winner selection processRun the GDCA selection process, coordinating closely with / guided by input from the Awards Committee Approve, direct, and execute key event production aspects for the Awards Ceremonies including production schedule based on video lengths, motion graphics, stage set, video packages, printed materials, trophies, makeup, invitations, scripts, presenters, hosts, and more. Coordinate closely with vendors and internal Operations team on planning and execution.Room producer on-site for awards and main stage productionsWork closely with Marketing and PR teams to promote awards including setting a marketing strategy, reviewing and editing press releases, blog posts and other marketing materials such as social posts and videosWork with Creative Director and Motion Graphics artists to determine ceremony look and feelFulfill Awards sponsorship deliverables and keep sponsor point of contact up-to-date. Deliverables could include on-stage presentations, printed materials, videos, and participation in event featuresProduce IGF Pavilion space. Determine logistics, signage and promotion to GDC marketing channelsDraft and review contracts and manage special events budgetRun weekly team meetings with internal team and vendors to report project progress and proactively address challengesManage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques and implement contingency plans when necessarySupport shaping of the onsite experience and strategy for future events by collecting and analyzing feedback, including production of the post-conference report and post-event analysisSupport special projects related to other GDC products throughout the yearQualifications3-5 years’ experience in event production, event operations, or event management (preferably with an Awards aspect), with demonstrated ability to lead execution of a complex event project planAbility to effectively review, analyze, and draw actionable takeaways from dataDemonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects/events at onceCreative problem solver with the ability to contribute new ideas and new solutionsUnderstanding/previous experience working with video editing and productionProven prior experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners, and understanding customer needsBudget management skills Familiar with vendor contractsStrong collaboration and communication skills written, verbal, presentationContribute to our entrepreneurial, resourceful, positive, and hard-working team cultureAble to balance independent and collaborative workYou will be commercially astute with a constant desire to find out more about the media and entertainment sectorPreferred software knowledge: Asana or other PM software, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Vimeo or another video review/editing software, Adobe Acrobat, Sharepoint or another shared document software.The pay range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000, depending on experience.
