The Event Manager (EM) at Branson Convention Center (BCC) is responsible for providing professional client service and support in the planning, organization, and management of events within the facility, and monitors the logistics of these events. The EM oversees all tasks from the time the events are turned definite through the conclusion of the event, and serves as the main means of communication between clients and internal departments when necessary. This position supervises third party contractors hired on site for events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures successful event coordination activities by monitoring the status of all assigned event advances and maintains close contact with clients, vendors, and staff to ensure a high level of serviceMeets with clients, external vendors, and internal teams assigned to events to facilitate logistics and needsGuides clients in preparation of events by interpreting and explaining use license agreement provisions as well as facility policies and proceduresKeeps clients informed as to status of deadlines, including but not limited to diagram submissions, set-up specifications for leased spaces, and other related detailsPrepares event cost estimates and monitors final billingProvides clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed requirements to internal departmentsVerify that event spaces have been set accurately to client specificationsServes as primary liaison between clients and internal departments as neededMonitors events in the facility, maintaining close contact with clients and venue staff to ensure successful events; follows up on all client requests, concerns, and issues during the event to ensure resolutionAssists in monitoring events on site for proper control and care for life safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) on siteMaintains event-related information, documents, and files for archival purposes and historical dataProvides timely response and follow up on all client requests and event-related inquiries to ensure the appropriate department handles themAttends staff and client meetings; develops and maintains a harmonious working relationship with all clients, external vendors, third party contractors, internal departments, and other stakeholders of eventsAssists with purchasing when necessary and contributes to the success of department goalsMaintains a professional image, generates positive public relations, and provides excellent customer service to clients, guests, and staff working in the facilityServes as manager on duty as requiredWorks extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as neededPerforms other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities

Knowledge of event management, planning, and logisticsKnowledge of or ability to learn event safety, including life safety, fire code, first aid, and best practicesKnowledge of or ability to learn software including event management programs, event diagramming software, and other event and venue-related computer applicationsKnowledge of or ability to learn industry terminology, event services, venue capabilities, and logistical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facilityAbility to handle multiple events, projects, tasks, and other deadlines simultaneouslyAbility to work independently, exercising good judgement, problem-solving, and initiativePossession of any licenses, certificates, or training related to event planning, venue management, or other related fields preferredMust maintain effective working relationships with clients, external vendors, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employmentMust follow oral and written instructions, communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form, and provide oral and written instruction to all staff, clients, and contractorsMust organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines, work effectively under pressure and quick deadlines, produce accurate results, and remain flexible to adjust to changing circumstances as they occurMust meet Physical Demands of jobMust be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United StatesEducation & Experience
High school or GED certificate graduate requiredAssociate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in event management, hospitality, sports management, tourism, arts administration, or related field preferred but not required2+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent work experienceCustomer service experience requiredCertificates, Licenses, & Registrations
Trained Crowd Manager certification or ability to obtain certificationFirst Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to obtain certificationEvent or venue industry designations such as CVP, CMP, CEM, etc. preferred but not requiredComputer Skills
