Job Summary:
The Estimator produces several levels of construction project estimates, with a heavy concentration on conceptual estimating, to support facility project planning. You will participate in project development, database comparison with actual costs, and review of contractor schedule of values. You will guide the Change Management effort with the project team, including analysis of contractor detailed costs and finalizing negotiations for settlement.
Responsibilities/You WillProduce rough order of magnitude, conceptual, design development, and bid and construct estimates of probable cost for facility modifications, renovations, and new constructionParticipate in design reviews and provide budget estimatesPartner with the Facility Planning (IFP) Representative and Program Manager to estimate future year programDevelop construction estimates for complex, single venue projects, phasing, and property-wide programsEvaluate contractor proposals for changes in project work observing contract requirements and fair market valuesLead negotiations with professional consultants and contractors to settle costs for changes in workStay current with market conditions, perform statistical analysis, and produce departmental reports as warrantedSupport multiple project teams with scope development, bid requirements, schedule of values, and contractual languageHelp with Estimator training for procedural and business protocolInfluence projects teams and internal partners.Basic Qualifications/You Will HaveFour (4) years of applicable experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or commercial facilities industryExperience in conceptual, quantity survey and cost estimating for general construction, including some experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbingKnowledge of contracting processes and legalitiesKnowledge of facility design and construction methods, construction activity sequencing, and schedule logicExperience with structuring, organizing, and using items within a databaseExperience using construction estimating softwareExperience with Risk IdentificationPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of current Florida Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire and Epcot building codesExperience with Primavera software.Required EducationBachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related fields
