Position Summary
The Sales Engineer/Estimator supports our customers providing technical knowledge and expertise. This position will be an active forward-facing role engaging with customers on a regular basis to develop quotations and understand technical information provided. The Sales Engineer/Estimator will be responsible for increasing sales and winning business from quotations provided.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provides technical sales support to clients with detailed layouts and cost analysis.
· Reviews documents such as customer design specifications and requests to determine feasibility of design and applicability.
· Generates cost estimates, quotations and performs the necessary follow-up activities to facilitate new business.
· Participates actively in the contract review process to impart learned information.
· Assists design engineering with the development of schematics or drawings.
· Sells and proposes products, systems, and services requiring technical knowledge of engineering and cost effectiveness.
· Talks and works with customers and production engineering to determine how products or services could be designed or modified to best suit customers' needs.
· Establishes customer rapport and builds relationships with customers.
· Demonstrates to potential customers how and why products and services would suit customer needs better than competitors’ products.
· Reports on market changes affecting company products and services.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
+ Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technologypreferred or8 years of machining and/or fabricating experiencerequired in lieu of a degree
+ Minimum 6+ years related work experience in related industryrequired.
+ Previous Sales Engineer in precision machining and or metal fabrication for industrial and defense productspreferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and sales proposals.
· Ability to conduct product, customer, and market research.
· Proven record of accomplishment in generating innovative and practical ideas.
· Team player with innovative ideas and attention to detail.
· Understanding of sales techniques.
Physical Requirements/Abilities
Office environment with minimal lifting of thirty pounds or less. May require navigating stairs and maneuvering through the plant environment for guided tours.
Salary Description
$65,000-100,000 per year
