Position Summary:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for steel fabrication and erection projects. This role requires thorough knowledge of structural and miscellaneous steel components, a strong understanding of construction documents and processes, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, suppliers, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop detailed cost estimates for both fabrication and erection.

Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, connections, and hardware.Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials, coatings, transportation, and erection services.Develop bid proposals and clearly defined scopes of work for submission to clients.Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to ensure accuracy and constructability of estimates.Maintain a current understanding of material costs, labor rates, market conditions, and industry trends.Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and customer interactions as needed.Track bid results and maintain detailed records of bids, wins/losses, and feedback for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

2+ years of estimating experience in steel fabrication and/or erection, or a related field.Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and connection details.Strong math skills and attention to detail.Familiarity with AISC standards and steel construction practices.Experience using estimating software (e.g., FabTrol, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, or similar).Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in structural engineering, construction management, or related technical field.Knowledge of local codes and erection safety regulations (OSHA).Familiarity with 3D modeling software or BIM platforms.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/hr.
