SAM’s Multi-Asset Portfolio Management team is seeking an equity analyst hire for its Investment Manager Research (“IMR”) team. The Equity Investment Manager Research Analyst will play a pivotal role in conducting due diligence on investment managers across U.S. and international equity strategies. This role involves evaluating, selecting, and monitoring investment managers to support portfolio construction within multi-asset products including managed portfolios, target date funds and sub-advised strategies. The ideal candidate will have 2-7 years of investment experience, insatiable curiosity and most importantly, keen interest in financial markets. This position will be based with the rest of the IMR team in Schwab’s Lone Tree office will require periodic travel to meet with investment managers.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
Conduct due diligence to identify, select and monitor high conviction U.S. and international equity investment managersQualitative analysis of firms, investors and market structure High frequency of direct engagement with third party investment managersRigorous quantitative analysis of portfolio structure and performancePrepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal team and SAM partners related to investment manager researchCollaborate with portfolio managers to integrate investment managers and research insights into portfolio strategiesStay current on market trends, macroeconomic factors, and regulatory developments impacting U.S. and international equitiesBuild and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external investment firms Travel quarterly to conduct on-site manager visits, attend industry conferences, or participate in due diligence meetings.What you haveRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field2-7 years of relevant investment experience Strong understanding of global equity markets, portfolio management and investment performance analysisProficiency in financial analysisExperience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, WordExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex informationAbility to build partnerships and collaborate effectivelyPreferred Qualifications:
Progress toward or completion of a CFA charterMBA or advanced degree in a related fieldFamiliarity with U.S., developed international and emerging marketsProgramming experience (e.g., Python, R, VBA) for data analysis Experience applied machine learning and/or large language modelsExperience with FactSet, Morningstar Direct, eVestment AllianceIn addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
