The Boeing AvionX organization is seeking a highly motivated Experienced or Senior Equipment & Tool Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our growing team and expanding facilities in Smithfield, Pennsylvania.  This role will support AvionX work across all business units (BDS, BCA & BGS).

Boeing AvionX develops and produces avionics and electronics systems designed for use on aircraft and other platforms for purposes such as navigation, flight controls, information systems, and other core avionic functions.  We have set our sights high – to design, develop, and manufacture the most technically advanced and reliable avionic components in the world. We are innovating and developing new products to address the future of the urban air mobility as well as our next generation of commercial, tactical, and trainer aircraft markets, weapons and others.

As an Experienced or Senior Equipment Engineer with strong technical knowledge/ background in the performance and reliability of electro-mechanical systems (aerospace manufacturing test equipment), you will lead the research, development, evaluation and integration of robotics, automation, and new technologies and processes related to equipment and tooling for applicability to programs and products. You will perform periodical preventative and software maintenance, predictive failure analysis and process optimization to improve equipment efficiency (troubleshooting test assets), reliability and productivity.

Position Responsibilities:

Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements to ensure that all test equipment operates efficiently and reliably; minimizing disruptions and financial impacts of equipment failure.

Performs periodical Preventative Maintenance (PM), Software Maintenance and troubleshoots test assets as required.

Reviews performance data/feedback to resolve issues related to product defects, equipment downtime, test process inefficiencies; and implements corrective actions to improve/eliminate defects.

Process Optimization- develops and meets OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) targets.

Performs test equipment maintenance, installation, commissioning and updates.

Maintains records of equipment performance, maintenance activities and upgrades.

Trains others.

Works under minimal direction.

Creates issue reports and presents results to internal and external customers.

Develops and implements interim solutions for damaged and unsafe equipment and tooling.

Investigates engineering changes and controls equipment and tooling configuration in accordance with company procedures.

Estimates, plans, manages and executes the acquisition and modification of equipment and tooling.

Applies lessons learned to the improvement of test procedures, equipment, fixtures and tooling.

Develops data processing tools and algorithms.

Guides others in the design of test hardware, software and systems to achieve compliance with test equipment requirements.

Formulates expectations for test data based on historical information.

Performs functions as required to ensure calibration system readiness and data validity.

Interfaces with other members of project or program, management, and technical staff to define and implement test engineering solutions. 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

5+ years of experience with electrical and equipment engineering

Experienced in implementation of preventative/corrective maintenance and systems

Experience with operations, maintenance repairs of industrial equipment (e.g., Large thermal chambers and Vibration systems)

Familiarization with Electrical and Mechanical Test Equipment (Environmental Test Equipment)

Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and datasheets 

Proficiency with standard Microsoft work applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Familiarity with EE CAD tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Allegro, OrCAD)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Experienced (Level 3) Summary pay range: $90,100 - $121,900

Senior (Level 4) Summary pay range: $110,500 - $149,500
