We are currently recruiting for an Equipment technician for a permanent role to support our engineering department in the Finishing Centre in Cork. The main responsibility of this role is the maintenance and troubleshooting of existing and new automation.

Job title: Associate (Equipment Technician) (Specific Level will be determined depending on experience).Reports to: Engineering Manager Finishing

 Equipment technician duties:

Provide first response technical support for high volume automated equipment.Assist Engineering in the installation and implementation of new equipment.Daily reporting into Engineering on all activities and highlighting concerns early.Responsible for investigating and documenting process issues and report to Engineering all findings and solutions.Support safety risk assessments for any new equipment introduced. Create/Update SHELs.Creating and updating SOP/WIs.Ensure all safety documentation (LOTO, SHELs, PTWs) are up to date and completed on time.Ensure all purchased components are assessed on SDS Upkeep of Equipment literature files, Work Orders & the Preventative Maintenance database. Is capable of completing all equipment PMs are per SOP and is proactively involved in scheduling vendor PMs.Flexible in supporting production across all 3 shifts (when required).Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon QS requirements.Assigned work adheres to H&S and environmental requirements.Order and maintain stocks of spares and components.Demonstrates Strong verbal and written communication skills.   Report writing around technical problems, projects or issues. Communicates in an open clear complete timely and consistent manner. Ensure detailed verbal and written handovers are completed at shift handover.Carry out modifications and upgrades.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Education:

A minimum Level 7 qualification in an Engineering or Technical discipline (Physics/Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical/Manufacturing)Preferred: Level 7 or Level 8 in an Engineering discipline (Physics/Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical/ Manufacturing)

Experience:

Minimum of 3 - 5 years previous experience in a similar technical role in the Medical Device IndustryPreferred: 5+ years’ experience in a similar technical role in the Medical Device IndustryAbility to trouble-shoot electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment issues.Familiarity with robotics, PLCs, vision systems.Technical competence in operating and repairing highly automated Equipment.Good understanding of networks and basic troubleshooting skills.Familiarity with Veeva, Maximo and Trackwise.Ability to work on own initiative.Good problem-solving skills and ability to utilize problem solving techniques.Knowledge of ISO, FDA, GMP standards.
