This per diem position is an excellent opportunity for current Respiratory Therapy students to gain hands-on, real-world experience in a hospital setting. Respiratory students are encouraged to apply and are preferred candidates for this role.
Position SummaryUnder general supervision and in accordance with established procedures, the Respiratory Equipment Technician performs a variety of responsibilities related to the cleaning, maintenance, and assembly of all Respiratory Care equipment. The technician ensures all equipment is processed safely and efficiently while following strict infection control and body substance precautions. This role also includes the performance of EKG tracings.
This is a per diem position, offering flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments and provide valuable clinical exposure.
Key ResponsibilitiesClean, assemble, and maintain respiratory care equipment according to established sterilization and safety procedures
Operate the Pasteurmatic washer and other processing equipment
Maintain organized and properly stocked equipment and supply rooms
Monitor and replenish oxygen cylinders in designated areas
Perform and document oxygen and aerosol checks as required
Carry out EKG tracings, respond to STAT calls, and ensure accurate documentation
Adhere to all infection control, safety, and departmental policies
Work independently during assigned shifts while maintaining communication with supervisors
Provide respectful, professional interactions with patients, staff, and healthcare team members
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred QualificationsCurrent enrollment in or recent graduation from a Respiratory Therapy program
Experience in a patient care setting, including use of patient care-related equipment
