Equipment Qualification (EQ) Program Engineer
Job Title: Equipment Qualification (EQ) Program Engineer Type: Direct Hire Work Model: Remote As an Equipment Qualification (EQ) Program Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all facets of the Equipment Qualification Program. Your expertise will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, driving successful qualification of equipment critical to plant design. You will provide technical leadership, coordinate workflows, and collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Program Oversight: Manage the EQ Program in alignment with 10 CFR 50.49, RG 1.89, and ASME QME-1, ensuring adherence to compliance and maintaining documentation integrity for the qualification of equipment. + Technical Expertise: Apply engineering principles to create and review EQ Program outputs, including specifications, test plans, procedures, record files, and engineering reports while ensuring clarity and thorough documentation. + Justification and Analysis: Develop detailed justifications and conduct comprehensive analyses to support equipment qualification efforts, presenting clear and nuanced explanations. + Interface with Regulatory Agencies: Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies for the EQ Program, facilitating audits, addressing Requests for Additional Information (RAIs), and attending meetings. + Program Coordination: Plan and coordinate the dynamics of the EQ Program, including work scope, schedules, and vendor oversight, ensuring alignment across disciplines. + Mentorship and Direction: Provide EQ mentoring, technical guidance, and oversight to both in-house teams and external vendors, promoting best practices and quality assurance. + Communication: Maintain high-level communication channels with department members and stakeholders across various platforms, ensuring clarity and collaboration. + Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing education to adapt quickly to evolving project demands and concepts, ensuring best practices are always at the forefront. Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities: + Education: B.S. in Engineering or a related technical field from an ABET-accredited program. A professional engineer license or advanced degree is preferred. + Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial nuclear power focusing on EQ Program responsibilities. Naval nuclear experience may substitute at a 2:1 ratio, contributing a maximum of two years. + Regulatory Knowledge: Proven ability to integrate Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements into EQ programs. + Testing Experience: Familiarity with preparing, executing, and overseeing test plans and procedures for SSC qualification. + Preferable Qualifications: + Experience in qualification via analysis and operating experience. + Skills in equipment qualification record file maintenance. + Knowledge of seismic design and EMI/RFI qualification criteria. + Familiarity with IEEE standards (317, 383, 384, 323, 344, 497, 535, and 603). + Demonstrated project management ability. + Industry Requirements: Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
