State Classified HourlyNo Description of Work Unit To provide a wide variety of essential heavy equipment services to maintain and service the outside physical environment of the Colorado State University campuses. Position Summary This position exists to provide a wide variety of essential services, both emergency andnon-emergency, to the campus community. These services require the use of heavyequipment such as: loaders, dump trucks with plows and sanders, asphalt rollers, skidsteers with attachments etc. The services include, but are not limited to, excavations forcampus utilities, street and road maintenance, a wide variety of hauling needs, snowremoval etc. The position is also required to maintain safety at every work site for thecampus users. Minimum Qualifications To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials: + Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position, such as operating a dump truck or loader. Substitutions Preferred Qualifications The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position: + Experience operating plow, dump truck, loader and skid steer. + Experience operating DCL equipment in heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic areas + Written and verbal communication skills + Knowledge of safety regulations/ OSHA + Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a crew to complete projects safely and on schedule. + Directly related state service experience Essential Job Duties Job Duty CategoryUtility Excavation and Campus Maintenance Duty/Responsibility Provide support services in the process of utility excavations for both repairs and new installations. This includes all types of utilities (water, sewer, electrical, gas lines, etc.) and requires the use of multiple pieces of heavy equipment Including loaders, dump trucks, compactors etc. Percentage Of Time20% Job Duty CategoryHeavy Equipment Maintenance Duty/Responsibility Operate multiple pieces of heavy equipment for maintenance of streets, roads, and parking lots. This also includes hauling material. Percentage Of Time50% Job Duty CategoryEquipment Repair Duty/Responsibility Perform scheduled maintenance and minor repairs to the heavy equipment. This task includes the maintenance of specific snow equipment. Percentage Of Time15% Job Duty CategorySnow Removal Duty/Responsibility Remove snow from campus streets and parking lots using various equipment such as loader, dump truck with plow and sander, skid steer, toolcat, etc. This also includes sanding streets and lots for safety. This position responds to emergency snow conditions. Percentage Of Time10% Job Duty CategoryProject and Event Services Duty/Responsibility Perform services requested by the campus community.
