Key accountabilities
- Lead Medical Strategy (50%)
Contributes to and leads the execution of the medical brand strategy and life cycle management at the MCO levelProvide medical and technical input into medically accurate development of Brand promotional materials in close alignment with the marketing teamWork with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to facilitate the creation of medical strategies about products to answer unsolicited medical requests from internal and external stakeholdersLeverage (unmet) medical needs in order to support lifecycle opportunities based on patient needs on a rolling basis through the development cycleEvaluate BD opportunities from Medical and Scientific point of view- Lead post Marketing Studies (10%)
Liaise with key internal stakeholders to help develop and implement independent post approval studies that have the potential to support diabetes productsUtilize advanced knowledge of diabetes therapy and real-world evidence methodology to drive continuous improvements in delivering study results efficiently.Actively engage regional thought leaders, investigators and potential investigators in two-way scientific communication around ISS/phase IV studies and provides effective solutionsEnsure timely review, approval and support as appropriate for ISSsAdvise on locally driven early stage clinical trial plans- Lead Medical Communication/Publication and Exchange (40%)
Lead Publication strategy planning and its execution. Lead activities related article publications, presentations at congresses and symposiaEstablish and maintain contact with Key Opinions Leaders (KOLs) with high level scientific and business communication skillsLead to shape field strategies in alignment with global medical director group and local MSLsDevelop and maintain scientific relationships with TLs to create awareness and understanding of the therapeutic area and products, and facilitate scientific exchange with KOLsPresent data at and chair as a leader for TA Medical Advisory BoardsDevelop and leverage medical/scientific insights through attendance at scientific meetings to further develop own knowledge base in line with company and medical strategyConduct/attend/present at Advisory Boards initiated by the affiliate organization if there is a clear need for specific medical inputSupport medical information role in alignment with medical information leadContext of the job/major challenges
Able to operate independently (with minimal supervision) and navigate complex regulatory environments in person and via digital channels from remote (non-office based) environment.Possible substantial travel: nationally and internationally.Effectively mediate KOL's complex and controversial opinions vs; corporate policy decisions ensuring KOL relationships/medical strategy are not negatively impacted.Ensures regulatory boundaries re non-promotional activities are respected vis-à-vis commercial partners.Scope of Role / Outputs
Accountability on [Japan/EP portfolio] level with reporting mainly to GenMed Japan Medical head, but cross-geographical communication and best-practice-sharing is encouragedRequirements
Education/experience
BSc; Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP in medical specialty) or equivalent combination of experience and educationDesirable – Min 5-year experience in R&D and / or Medical in pharmaceutical companiesHave experience at least two years of MSL or three years of Medical Manager/Medical Advisor’s rolePrior experience in clinical trials management and understanding of GCPUnderstanding of health economicsScientific and Technical knowledge in Therapeutic areaSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
