About the job

The mission of the CMC Synthetics-Process Chemistry Organization is to deliver robust, innovative, and eco-designed synthetic routes and processes for Sanofi’s medicines in the most efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective way. Your role will be to discover and develop enzyme to be implemented in the biocatalytic processes.

Join our state-of-the-art Enzyme Biology team as an Enzymology Senior Scientist, and you’ll contribute to developing new innovative and eco-designed synthetic processes for Sanofi components and products, while enjoying numerous opportunities to broaden your experience and hone your skills.

 

Main responsibilities:
 

To establish the strategy for the discovery, screening and optimization of enzymes for each project, within timelines and budgetTo take part of the global development of the strains considering the requirements of the analytical lab, the HT screening, the purification, after discussion with the concerned labTo plan, coordinate, and/or execute the lab experiments, including the use of robotics toolsTo develop the new molecular biology and biochemistry methodsTo realize bibliographic and technologic watch related to the topics ongoing in order to identify new technologies and techniques of interest for delivering best in class resultsTo analyze, interpret and present the progress and the results in a multidisciplinary and international environmentTo write the electronic lab book and document protocols required for the activity, as well as descriptions of analytical methods and chemical protocols in EnglishTo manage scientifically collaborators according to projects requirements, and to take part to the lab organization (maintenance, lab supply, HSE)

 

About you

Experience:
 

Molecular biology, microbiology and biochemistry knowledge are requiredExperience in protein expression and in the use of enzyme in biocatalysis to produce API intermediatesKnowledge of microbiology and bacterial fermentationKnowledge of in silico methods for enzyme optimizationKnowledge of Machine Learning/Artificial intelligent algorithms is a plus

 

Soft and technical skills:
 

Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Provide clear and structured explanations of its studies to other local functions and to other cross site functional groupsRigorous and organized, show initiative, proactivity and curiosity, manage prioritiesMolecular biology technics required for the development of enzyme optimizationInterest in artificial intelligence and in silico modelling would be a plusAbility to build and conduct research scientific program related to project of interest and to guide others in these areasAbility to manage the technical monitoring of CRO/CDMO subcontracting (technical discussion for the outsourcing of enzyme optimization)

 

Education:
 

PhD in biocatalysis, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology or any related topics or Master degree with proven experience in any of cited topics
