Join us and make a meaningful impact on the future of energy and transportation. **Job Summary** : The Environmental Technician – Level 1 plays a key role in supporting environmental compliance activities such as inspections, reporting, and spill response across the manufacturing site. This entry-level position offers hands-on learning under close supervision, focusing on facility processes, regulatory standards, and safety protocols related to lithium-ion battery production. The technician contributes to audits, site walks, and equipment checks while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. As part of PECNA’s EHS team, this role helps advance the company’s sustainability and compliance goals. **Essential Duties:** **Environmental Program Execution & Compliance** + Learn and support environmental processes and reporting systems (e.g., sampling, spill response, audits) + Conduct inspections and audits for stormwater, SPCC, waste management, air permits, and spill response + Operate and maintain tools and equipment within functional area + Write daily, monthly, and annual environmental incident reports + Respond to spills, implement containment, and support incident investigations + Learn about and apply PECNA’s environmental compliance requirements + Support proper implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications + Support 6S implementation and site-wide continuous improvement initiatives **Training, Learning & Development** + Develop familiarity with EHS training topics and compliance standards + Learn facility layout, equipment, production processes, and environmental monitoring tools + Understand the use of PPE and environmental safety equipment + Gain knowledge of regulations and permit requirements relevant to manufacturing operations **Safety & Culture Building** + Promote and model a culture of safety, quality, environmental compliance, and improvement + Walk production areas regularly, build employee relationships, and identify risks or compliance issues + Communicate effectively with team members and employees across the facility + Support communication of environmental best practices to peers under supervision + Report and help prevent environmental incidents proactively **Collaboration & Administrative Support** + Maintain active communication with Environmental team and Health and Safety teams + Work independently and as part of a team to reduce risk, support operations, and add value + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner + Perform other duties as assigned by EHS leadership + Support site operations by working assigned shift hours and being available to respond to environmental emergencies during weekends or after hours, when required + Ability to train others at same or lower level within functional area **Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:** + To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
