**Job Description**
Are you interested in a career working in the environmental field? This entry-level position in the Environment Business Line of **AECOM** offers a learning opportunity with a great team of Field Technicians, Geologists, Scientists, and Environmental Engineers.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Performing environmental field sampling duties for a long-term established chemical manufacturing client in Southern New Jersey.
+ Your work will also support other clients in the region and occasional travel may be required.
+ You’ll apply your mechanical and problem-solving skills to an assortment of sampling and remediation projects.
+ You will perform routine fieldwork as a trainee which includes sampling of groundwater, soil, sediment, or surface water as part of environmental investigation and remediation projects as well as assisting in maintaining field equipment (vehicles, generators, pumps, field instruments).
+ You’ll document and report on your findings. You will receive hands-on training on the use of a variety of techniques and tools so that you can be effective in this independent field role.
+ You’ll also learn proper documentation techniques for data collection, field logs, and safety practices.
+ This is an entry-level position in a multi-disciplined environmental department.
+ You will be given the opportunity to cross-train and expand your skills on additional project assignments based on performance and experience background.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent
+ Must be able to travel to various field site locations utilizing an AECOM company vehicle, or in some cases a personal vehicle.
+ Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
+ Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.
+ Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
+ US Citizenship is a requirement for this role
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Must attend and pass 40-hour OSHA training and physical.
+ Physically able, with or without accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, noise and/or in proximity to industrial sites where chemicals may be present. Frequent lifting equipment or objects weighing 45 pounds or less without assistance. Occasional repetitive bending & stooping to take ground measurements and other record reading as assigned.
+ Frequently moving to numerous locations on the site to conduct environment sampling tasks. Occasional gripping/squeezing hand tools to perform maintenance, inspection or readings such as removing nuts and bolts on filters or well covers. Occasionally working with arms above shoulder level, climbing stairs, and using portable ladders to perform maintenance, inspection, or readings.
+ Position requires wearing associated personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, face shield, fall protection, hearing and respiratory protection.
+ Proficient and knowledgeable with all types of groundwater sampling and gauging techniques (low flow purge, no purge, conventional).
+ Proficient and knowledgeable with all types of groundwater and DNAPL/LNAPL treatment systems (pump and treat, soil vapor extraction, LNAPL skimming, dual phase extraction, etc.)
+ Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe
+ Experience communicating professionally and politely with coworkers and customers.
+ Previous experience working in outdoor environments without climate control.
**Additional Information**
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $20.00/hour - $26.50/hour.
