Hourly base pay rate is $21.49 - $32.26/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Cox Enterprises is hiring an Environmental Sustainability Intern to join our team! The Environmental Sustainability Intern will work closely with Cox Conserves team members and others across the organization to support enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives. The intern will assist with executing Cox’s multifaceted sustainability strategy, including working with internal and external partners to develop and implement projects that reduce the overall environmental impact of our operations, facilitating data collection and analysis efforts for enterprise and business unit reporting, and researching scalable sustainability management practices for complex organizations experiencing rapid new growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Strategic Support: Work closely with Cox Conserves and other cross-functional groups to support enterprise-wide conservation efforts and strategic programmatic development across carbon, water, waste and biodiversityData Collection & Analysis: Support the collection and analysis of sustainability data for Cox locations across our multiple divisionsSecondary Research: Conduct secondary research and summarize findings on how rapidly growing organizations effectively integrate new growth businesses into corporate sustainability strategyOther Duties: The intern may have other duties as assignedQualifications
Required:Passion for environmental sustainability and resource conservationUnderstanding of organizational sustainability practicesFamiliarity with sustainability management principlesPreferred:Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related fieldExperience with Microsoft 365 apps and services such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and geospatial softwareLEED, ISSP, or similar certificationsKey Skills
Good operational and project management abilitiesStrong communication (both written and verbal) and stakeholder engagement skillsProven critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solveStrong attention to detail and time management skillsWorking Conditions

Intern/Co-Op sessions are considered temporary employment. No full-time employment commitments are made. However, depending on our business needs, some interns may be considered for a full-time position following the conclusion of the session conditioned upon the intern graduating from their academic program and being available to commence full-time employment at a specified time.
