Primary Responsibilities:
24-hour availability for emergencies and troubleshooting Serve as backup to the wastewater treatment facility operator, as needed Collect and manage daily, weekly, monthly records and inspections for review by the Environmental Manager Complete monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports for signature by the Environmental Manager Complete monthly Sustainability measurements and recordkeeping to support energy, water, and waste reduction initiatives Complete quarterly stormwater monitoring and prepare Stormwater Monitoring Reports for signature by the Environmental Manager Perform internal environmental audits to support the Environmental Management System Raise corrective actions and continuous improvement ideas to the Environmental Manager Prepare and manifest shipments of hazardous waste and CT-regulated waste Develop working knowledge of Plating and Production and utility systems related to the WWTF
Additional Responsibilities
Sampling waste streams for laboratory analysis, as needed Sampling stormwater for semi-annual laboratory and quarterly visual analysis
Required
B.S. in Science, Environmental Sciences, or Enviromental/Chemical Engineering strongly preferred; may be waived with demonstrated commensurate experience Minimum of 7 years experience Must be available 24-hours for emergency response Must maintain facial hair to maintain a seal with a negative pressure respirator Ability to understand and troubleshoot systems – Wastewater treatment system, pumps valves, chemistry Proficiency with Excel and other data management and analysis tools Participate in all required training to participate on the 24-hour spill response team Practice ethical behavior and code of conduct in all aspects of the environmental program
Desired
Industrial wastewater treatment experience Familiarity with compliance reporting such as EPCRA Tier II and TRI, biennial hazardous waste, annual air emissions compliance certifications Wastewater treatment training
