Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to support our Plastics Division’s environmental compliance programs. This role will focus on maintaining and improving the environmental standards of the facility, including regulatory compliance with Tier II, SPCC, Storm Water, SWPPP, Air Permits, and GSA/GHA reporting. The Environmental Specialist will manage environmental permits, conduct audits, and ensure the facility meets or exceeds local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage environmental compliance programs across the facilityMaintain and update Tier II, SPCC, Storm Water, SWPPP, and Air Permit documentation and reportingOversee the preparation and submission of regulatory reports (Tier II, GSA/GHA, SPCC, Air Permits, Storm Water, etc.)Conduct regular environmental inspections, audits, and risk assessmentsDevelop and implement strategies to maintain compliance with EPA and state environmental regulationsLiaison with regulatory agencies to ensure environmental compliance and manage site inspectionsCoordinate and lead training sessions for employees on environmental policies, procedures, and best practicesLead environmental incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrenceManage environmental data, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely submission of required reportsSupport the ESG reporting process related to environmental sustainability initiativesParticipate in the development and continuous improvement of the site’s Environmental Management System (EMS)Provide subject matter expertise on waste management, pollution prevention, and air/water quality complianceCollaborate with cross-functional teams on environmental risk mitigation and process improvementsWork Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field5+ years of recent experience in Environmental Compliance in an industrial/manufacturing settingIn-depth knowledge of Tier II, SPCC, Storm Water, SWPPP, Air Permits, and GSA/GHA reportingStrong understanding of EPA, state, and local environmental regulationsExperience with environmental permitting and regulatory reporting requirementsProven ability to interact effectively with regulatory agenciesStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to lead training, communicate effectively across all levels of the organizationProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software toolsCertified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or similar certifications preferredWorking Environment:
Manufacturing plant environment with occasional exposure to varying environmental conditionsRequires occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.), walking/standing during plant inspectionsMust follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Benefits
