This field-based role involves conducting multi-media compliance inspections across air, water, solid waste, and hazardous waste sectors. The selected candidate will also lead multi-media complaint investigations and may provide support for water quality initiatives. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Conduct compliance inspections and multimedia investigations across air, water, waste, asbestos, and lead-based paint sectors. + Respond to citizen complaints, environmental incidents, and emergency conditions, including statewide support and public meetings. + Perform ambient environmental monitoring and sampling at fixed and mobile sites to assess pollution impacts. + Prepare detailed reports and enter inspection, incident, and timekeeping data into agency systems (TEMPO, LEO). + Carry out additional regional and statewide inspection duties as assigned, requiring travel and full physical mobility. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type:This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
