St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin is Diageo's largest manufacturing facility in Ireland, and the largest stout brewery in the world, producing over three million pints of Guinness every day, supplying a growing Irish, UK and US market, and exporting to 90 global markets. Our main beer brands are Guinness, Rockshore, Hop House 13, Smithwick's and Harp. We also brew Carlsberg and Tuborg under licence for the Irish market, as well as a range of newer products, most recently Guinness 0.0. The brewery is highly utilised placing a premium on plant and process reliability.

About the Role

As the Environmental Manager reporting to the Beer Governance Manager, you will lead internal and external partners focussed on environmental management and wider sustainability. You will be the key site contact for managing the sites' relationship with environmental stakeholders (e.g., Environment Protection Agency, Utility providers, Local groups).

Key Responsibilities include:

Handling the site’s relationship with external partners such as, but not limited to, The Environmental Protection Agency, Uisce Éireann and local residentsEnsuring that all environmental regulatory and compliance standards are met or surpassed, including ISO14001& IE licenceGoverning environmental management including the environmental management system, acting as environmental contact for all management of changes, communications, and COSHH, lead any statutory engagement.Supporting development of strong culture for site environmental awareness through outstanding level of employee engagement.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to communicate to all levels across the brewery and engage with a wide range of contractors on site.Strong project management skills with ability to lead various diverse projects, on differing timelines and have a proven track record of doing so.Capability to consider change management implications from a cross-site perspective, using engagement tools and techniques.Capability to shape the future looking at strategy, generate designs and handover implementation.A degree in environmental management, engineering, or equivalent experience across a range of technical/ operational / environmental roles including process operations, engineering, and project management.NEBOSH environmental management (good to have)An understanding of brewing processes, energy management & contract management but this is not crucial.
