Environmental Intake Team Lead
Rincon Consultants is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative **Environmental** **Intake Team Lead** to join our growing Environmental Sciences team. This is a great opportunity for earlier-career professionals with experience in environmental consulting, operations coordination, or permitting support who enjoy organizing complex data, managing workflows, and helping teams meet fast-paced project demands. In this role, you’ll oversee **Environmental** **Intake** and **project coordination** efforts for a large utility client program across California, including supporting a team of analysts and ensuring timely and accurate execution of project tasks. You’ll work closely with technical staff, project managers, and client representatives to track project progress, ensure data consistency, and support delivery of environmental compliance and permitting documentation. With structured processes and on-the-job learning, this position offers a solid pathway toward project management, program operations, or technical leadership roles. While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. **Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:** + Lead intake and coordination processes for moderately complex projects, including task assignment, quality control, and communication with project teams. + Oversee a small team of analysts and coordinators and subconsultants, providing training, day-to-day support, and delegation of responsibilities. + Track project requests and deliverables through internal systems and client platforms, ensuring on-time and accurate completion of assigned work. + Review and maintain data accuracy across spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports used for compliance documentation and invoicing. + Collaborate with project managers and technical staff to support project planning, resource tracking, and reporting. + Provide responsive communications to client and stakeholders for project updates, data requests, and priorities. + Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement process improvements to improve team efficiency and documentation quality. + Support and manage preparation and review of environmental deliverables, including coordination of supporting materials and submittals + Facilitate subject matter expert reviews and clear projects through the client platform on time. + Perform other coordination or project support duties as assigned. **This Job Might Be for You If You Have the Following:** + A **Bachelor’s degree** in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a related field. + **3–5+ years of relevant experience** in project coordination, environmental compliance, permitting, or data operations. + Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when coordinating with internal and external teams. + **Direct experience using EHSync or a similar** management system to track, input, or manage environmental data. + A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a passion for keeping things organized and moving forward. + Familiarity with environmental regulations, CEQA/NEPA, and utility-related permitting work. + Experience mentoring or leading junior staff in a professional setting. The base salary range for this full-time position is $72,500–$104,000, plus a generous benefits program.
