Job Title: Environmental Inspector

Job Description

As an Environmental Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring construction activities comply with environmental conditions and requirements. This role involves close collaboration with construction management personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders to maintain compliance with environmental permits and licenses.

ResponsibilitiesMonitor construction on a daily basis for compliance with environmental conditions and requirements, advising field personnel and recommending corrective actions when necessary.Document and report spills in daily reports to the contractor, verifying clean-up, while ensuring spill clean-up and state reporting are handled by the contractor.Report specific construction activities to the Construction Manager that are inconsistent with applicable legal and/or regulatory environmental requirements, or that may cause serious environmental degradation.Promptly report instances of environmental non-compliance to the Construction Manager, relevant agencies, and the owner, ensuring follow-up on corrective actions and documenting completion.Assist with variance request reviews.Coordinate closely with construction contractors, construction management personnel, right-of-way agents, inspectors, and other personnel to maintain compliance with the project's environmental permits and licenses.Participate in daily contractor meetings, facilitating discussions on environmental content.Adjust monitoring activities in response to construction progress, landowner complaints, non-compliance issues, and variance requests.Oversee placement of signage/markers and exclusionary markers.Document construction compliance with environmental requirements through detailed daily field notes and digital photo documentation.Provide environmental training.Manage and direct the Environmental Inspector/Environmental Compliance Monitor daily.Assist the Environmental Inspector/Environmental Compliance Monitor with any inquiries.Essential Skills3+ years of experience in environmental compliance monitoring, including experience working outdoors in remote areas.Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, botany, or a related natural resource field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Familiarity with understanding biological seasonal and spatial restrictions.Previous construction experience and experience working with contractors.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in environmental monitoring, compliance, geology, construction inspection, biology, and environmental science.Work Environment

This position is based outdoors in a team environment in Craig, Colorado for 8-10 weeks. The work involves supporting a 700-mile transmission line project under one of the industry leaders, with a daily per diem provided.

This position is based out of Craig, Colorado.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
