Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Environmental Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team on a major airfield development project. This role will support environmental compliance, impact mitigation, and sustainability initiatives across the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in environmental engineering, with strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, monitoring, and reporting—ideally within large-scale infrastructure or aviation projects.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Oversee implementation of the project’s Environmental Management Plan (EMP) in accordance with local and international standards.Monitor air, water, soil, and noise quality on-site, ensuring compliance with environmental thresholds and contractual obligations.Coordinate with environmental authorities and regulatory agencies to ensure all permits and reporting requirements are met.Support the development and review of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP).Identify and manage environmental risks across the project, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.Monitor waste management, erosion control, stormwater management, and hazardous material handling practices on-site.Provide engineering input to sustainability initiatives, including water conservation, habitat preservation, and pollution prevention.Assist in the preparation of environmental reports, audit findings, and inspection records.Review and approve contractor submittals related to environmental protection and regulatory compliance.Liaise with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to coordinate environmental initiatives.Participate in construction planning reviews to ensure environmental factors are considered in design and execution.Support training and awareness programs for site personnel on environmental protection practices and procedures.What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.Minimum 8 years of experience in environmental engineering or environmental management.Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, preferably in airport or aviation-related projects.Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (local and international), EIA/ESIA processes, and monitoring methodologies.Familiarity with ISO 14001, LEED, and environmental management frameworks.Ability to interpret environmental data and prepare technical documentation.Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficient in MS Office and environmental monitoring tools (GIS, air/noise/water quality instruments).Certification in environmental auditing or environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor).Experience with airport environmental management, wildlife hazard mitigation, or airfield runoff control.Knowledge of sustainability rating systems such as LEED, Envision, or Estidama.Arabic language proficiency is a plus.Experience coordinating with environmental regulatory agencies or working on PPP/government contracts is desirable.Parsons equally employs representation at all job levels no matter the race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability or genetic information.We truly invest and care about our employee’s wellbeing and provide endless growth opportunities as the sky is the limit, so aim for the stars!
