Kent is looking for an Environment Digital Lead to be based in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Environment Team in Kent and be a pivotal part of the growth and development of that team. We are looking for an experienced professional working in the digital and geospatial field who is ready to take the next step in their career. The Environment Digital Lead role will be demanding and varied with involvement in technical delivery as well as driving and leading this service offering. With an initial focus on effective utilisation of GIS on Kent projects, the role has significant potential to expand out into all elements of digital delivery. The ideal candidate will have a background in GIS and delivering digital support in the UK environmental and/or engineering consultancy sector and a strong desire to be a leader. The role will report directly into the Environment Market Director. Support and guidance will be provided in leadership, business development and technical delivery as necessary.

Skills & Responsibilities:

Overall lead for all digital tools in Kent’s Environment TeamDevelopment and implementation of GIS across Kent’s UK projects, with scope to support initiatives and efforts globallyResponsible for overall technical quality and assurance of GIS outputsProvide digital input to project delivery, including digital products such as tools or geospatial analysis, as well as spatial data managementLead the growth of Kent’s GIS offering in the UK; support the Environment Market Director to recruit and grow a team of strong digital professionalsSupport business development across the Environment Market by identifying prospective clients for digital services and supporting the preparation of proposals and other marketing needs with digital inputsIn support of the Environment Strategy, create a Digital Strategy, setting out a vision for the Environment Digital Team with clear goals, which align with business objectives, and create a roadmap with success metricsLead the Environment Digital Team by providing mentoring and management whilst supporting professional development of the teamCollaborate with colleagues across the UK and international businesses to build a community of skilled digital and GIS professionals and identify initiatives that support digital advancement across the company Drive digital innovation by leveraging strong technical expertise and collaborating with colleagues across the business to identify opportunities for new digital tools and innovation. Prepare compelling business cases and project plans to execute innovation and research projectsWork closely with our Software Development team to develop and deliver software tools and products that can support projects and consultancy services Preparation of cost estimates and bids for new work scopesProvision of strategic advice on digital matters to clients

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Extensive experience delivering related GIS and digital services in the environmental and sustainability sectorDegree(s) in a relevant subject matterChartership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CGeog)Strong proficiency in relevant digital / geospatial tools and software (e.g. ESRI suite of software)Extensive experience in providing digital support to consultancy teamsExisting network of clients and industry contactsExperience leading work scopes to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising qualityFamiliar with relevant legislation and industry standards and able to apply this knowledge in producing digital outputs and advising clientsAbility to prepare technical digital / geospatial products to a high standard and check the work of othersExperience in building digital teams and working effectively across international communities of practiceExperience in leading and managing junior colleaguesExperience working with resource management systemExperience of leading or contributing to successful bids and proposalsProactive in the identification and delivery of opportunities to grow the business

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communicationComfortable explaining digital products, tools and requirements to senior management and clientsAbility to present at conferences is desirable (support can be provided)Excellent client engagement skills and expertise, ability to influence clientsExcellent bid authoring knowledge and skillsAbility to lead teams and establish communication ‘drum beats’ to convey key messages in a timely mannerExcellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
