The Stryten factory in Salina, Kansas is one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturing sites in North America with 800 employees capable of producing more than 35,000 quality batteries per day. The primary responsibility of this position is to monitor and maintain the wastewater treatment system and conduct various facility inspections to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

 

C Shift: Day - Thurs-Sat, every other Wed

Responsibilities Perform general monitoring and adjustments to the wastewater treatment system. Acquire samples of water or hazardous wastes as required.General handling of wastewater treatment chemicals and production wastes.Perform maintenance on water pumps, pipes, and equipment.Perform clerical duties to maintain inspection logs, record data, and prepare reports.Monitor the air control systems to maintain regulatory and company required operational and emission limits.Support of the EHS group in general audit inspections, reporting, and record keeping.Support of emergency response activities to accidents or incidents at the facility.Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.Perform hazardous waste shipment preparation and paperwork. Hazardous waste training shall be provided to the employee within six months of the date the employee filled this position, and a review of this training provided every 12 months thereafter. The employee will complete a program of classroom instruction. The employee shall be supervised until training is completed. The training shall consist of a review of proper management of hazardous waste, satellite accumulation containers, how to review and prepare a hazardous waste manifest, and proper labeling requirements. Perform other work as assigned by Management including 5S cleaning.

 

Qualifications Education, Experience, Skills Required:High School Education preferred with basic reading and writing skills.General knowledge of maintenance activities related to water and air control equipment.EHS Training as outlined in ENV 093-EHS Training Guide.Previous work with hazardous wastes and chemicals desired.Previous work experience in a wastewater treatment system desired.

Qualifications:

Power tools, hand tools, ladders, portable pumps, meters, gauges, testing and sampling equipment, and personal protective equipment as required.Physically capable of wearing PPE including gloves, respirator, safety glasses, hard hat, metatarsal guarded shoes in accordance with established policy.Continuous standing, walking, and bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching, for 12 hr. shifts. Repetitious work.Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid).Occasional lifting from grams up to 50 pounds
