This role is located in our North Sydney office, however there is flexibility for this role to alternatively be located in Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth.
The Opportunity
The Environmental Advisor position plays a vital role in the effective management of environmental compliance, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring regulatory adherence within the Defence Fuels Network Maintenance Contract (DFN MC) environment.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement environmental management systems to minimize the impact of Defence Fuel Installation (DFI) operations on the environment.Conduct environmental base line assessments and risk evaluations to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.Advise on best practices for pollution prevention, waste management, and environmental conservation at DFI’s.Stay up to date with environmental regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws.Collaborate with Defence and UGL teams to establish and maintain environmental policies and procedures.Provide training and guidance to DFI staff to enhance environmental awareness and promote a culture of environmental stewardship.Monitor and report on environmental performance, including air and water quality, emissions, and waste disposal practices.Serve as a liaison with Defence, regulatory agencies and environmental advocacy groups to address concerns and maintain positive community relations.Participate in emergency response planning and preparedness to mitigate environmental incidents and ensure prompt remediation.Regular travel across our Fuel Installation sites across all states and territoriesIdeal attributes

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.Would best suit those with 3-5 years experience Experience in environmental management, ideally within the fuel or energy industry.Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, environmental impact assessments, and sustainability practices.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.Must hold Australian Citizen for Defence Clearance purposesNext Steps
