Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Environmental Officer to support our efforts in ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability within our underground operations. The role will involve monitoring site activities, developing and implementing environmental management plans, and participating in various environmental programs. This position is pivotal in driving our commitment to responsible mining practices and making a significant positive impact on the environment
Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring of site disturbance activities to ensure compliance to legislative requirements.The development and implementation Environmental Management plans and systems to improve site environmental performance.Participating in the monitoring, analysis and reporting on programs for land, vegetation, cultural heritage, water and waste.QualificationsTertiary qualifications in an Environmental discipline (or a related discipline) are required with knowledge of environmental issues relevant to the coal mining industry highly regarded.Experience with contractor management will be beneficial to your application, but not mandatory.Experience using ArcGIS (Pro) or similar mapping software.Experience in understanding, interpreting and analysing relevant environmental data is key to the role.Familiarity with Risk Management Processes and Controls.Additional InformationMonday to Friday RosterBased at Aquila Mine, MiddlemountRelocation Assistance AvailableCompetitive remuneration
