ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Worcester, MA office is looking for an Entry Level Highway Design Engineer to join our team. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our community’s highway and roadway infrastructure with an integrated, context-driven, and innovative project delivery mindset. Our clients include MassDOT Highway Division, local Cities and Towns, MBTA, Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), other state public agencies, Colleges and Universities, and private developers.
Responsibilities
Work within a team of design, engineering, and construction professionals in developing transportation design solutions for a multitude of projectsRoadway designDrainage designUtility designTraffic control developmentPreliminary and final design plansContract documents, including specificationsEngineer’s construction cost estimates and schedulesConstruction phase servicesField inspectionTraditional and alternative design development and project delivery including design-buildWork on interdisciplinary design teams and collaborate and coordinate with engineers and contractors with specialties in bridge, traffic, environmental, utilities, and stormwater.Skills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsComfortable working independently as well as on a teamDetail oriented, self-motivated, and committedStrong computer skillsCritical thinking and problem solvingQualifications
Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experienceEIT, or EIT in process, is a plusRoadway design experience is a plusAutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a strong plusWe are VHB!
